Event description

This workshop brings together participants from the first workshop to share their experiences of collaboration and exchange within their respective language communities.

Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on what they learned from the collaborative experiment, discuss their experiences with peers, and continue exploring deliberate practice within language communities.

Speaker

Devin Gilbert is a translation and interpreting practitioner, educator, and researcher. He teaches Spanish Translation and Interpreting as an Assistant Professor at Utah Valley University’s Department of Languages & Cultures (UVU).

He completed his Master’s degree in Interpreting and Translation Studies at Wake Forest University and earned a PhD in Translation Studies from Kent State University.

Devin also serves on the board of the Utah Translators and Interpreters Association and is a certified healthcare interpreter and educational interpreter for Spanish. In 2022, he began developing Terp, a web-based interpreting training platform designed to make authentic interpreting-practice dialogues more accessible and interactive.
